George Henry Messer, age 84 of Sevierville passed away Saturday May 12, 2007. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. Until his retirement in 1985 he lived and worked in the Knoxville area. He enjoyed building, gardening and nature. Mr. Messer was a Mason, and an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Mariar Messer.

Wife: Loraine Moore Messer
Sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. George Henry Messer, Jr., and wife Sheryl Mitchell Messer, Dr. David Wayne Messer, and wife Carol McCullough Messer.
Grandchildren: Jeff and Kelley Messer, of Abilene,TX, Kara and Trey McAfee of Houston, TX, Julie Messer, of Morganstown, WV, Jeremy and Andrea Messer, of Kernersville, North Carolina
Great Grandchildren: Kathlyn, Melia and Reid Messer and Macy McAfee
Sisters: Zora Thomas and and Ruth Sayne
The family will receive friends from 2-3PM Sunday with funeral service to follow 3PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Ely and Rev. Jerry Bailey officiating.
