- [S4] Knoxville News-Sentinel (Tennessee), 20 Apr 2012.
HEADRICK, WILLIAM F. "JUNIOR" - 86, a son given by the Lord to Fred and Emma Headrick, was born in Oakdale, Tennessee on June 15, 1925. He died late Wednesday evening on April 18, 2012 following a period of declining strength and health. Today, we rejoice in the knowledge that he has gone to be with the Lord whom he served faithfully during his life. He was a Christian and faithful member of White Oak Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon in 1962. He was also a Veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army and having fought in combat including the Battle of the Bulge. He worked hard as a farmer and timber cutter to provide for his family. His normal work day began at 3:00 a.m. with a time of devotion and prayer. He will always be remembered as a man who loved the Lord, his family and his church. He was preceded in death by son Rickie Headrick, his parents Fred and Emma Headrick, sister; Elma Grace and brothers-in-law; Charles Grace, Jr., and Jess Powell. On April 16, 1949 he was married to his loving and dedicated wife of 63 years, Ruth Jones Headrick who survives. Surviving along with Ruth are daughter, Diana Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Debbie Headrick of Crossville; daughter, Darlene Headrick; sons and daughters-in-law, Reggie and Candace Headrick of Oakdale, Rolland and Kristi Headrick of Oakdale; sister, Norma Powell; twelve grandsons; three granddaughters; nineteen great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. His family takes this occasion to thank their many friends for the many acts of kindness and compassion shown to them during this time of sorrow and during his illness. We want to thank Dr. McMillin and the medical staff at the Roane Medical Center for their great care, compassion and service just prior to his home going. The family will receive friends Friday evening, April 20, 2012 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the White Oak Baptist Church in Oakdale with Bro. Danny Jenkins and Bro. Billy Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Crab Orchard Cemetery, Oakdale. Memorial contributions may be made to the White Oak Baptist Church Mission Fund.
