MCCAMPBELL, LUCY EDITH LAFORGE - of Knoxville, 89, died Friday, November 27, at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga. She was a member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 15, 1920. She graduated from Knoxville Central High School in 1937, and attended UT for two years. While at UT, she was member of the Volettes, Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, and was the vocal soloist for the concert band. She taught at Ritta, Smithwood, and Shannondale Elementary Schools. She started taking piano at age five, and could never remember not being able to play the piano. She was organist, choir director and soloist at Shannondale Presbyterian Church for many years, and also a musician at Fountain City Presbyterian. She had a strong Christian faith which she passed on in her everyday life raising boys, conducting Bible studies, and teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed being a member of the Fountain City Study Club, and was a warm loving farm wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Barnes LaForge, and Lucy Belle Mallory LaForge; her brothers, Robert Mallory LaForge and Richard James LaForge; and her loving husband of 61 years, Shannon Pierce McCampbell. Survivors include: sons and spouses, Hugh Shannon and Marty of Sweetwater, Ralph LaForge and Gail of Fincastle Virginia, Roger Clinton and Rima of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and Bennett Edward and Linda of Port Isabel, Texas; grandchildren and spouses, Elizabeth Nellie Sunder (Ed), Andrew Stuntz McCampbell (Dana), Emily Ann Sloan (Mike), Kathleen Garrett McCampbell, Rebecca Starr McCampbell, Wendy Gail Radtke, Mary Amanda Cameron, Tina Stewart (Gavin) and Natalie McCampbell; 18 great grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, 11 am Monday, November 30. Family and pallbearers meet at Gentry-Griffey Mortuary, Fountain City, at 10:15. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday evening, at Fountain City Presbyterian Church, with a memorial service to follow. Gentry-Griffey in charge of arrangements.
