Member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church; retired from ALCOA and member of the 25 Year Club. Preceded in death by wife, Icy Verdell Steele; son, J.C. Steele; grandson, Richard M. Cable; brothers, Labe, Verble, John and Elmer Steele; sisters, Elizabeth Best and Esther Garren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ulyss and Delcia Yates. Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and Joe Kirkland, Atlanta, Ga., Debra and Chuck Cable, Maryville, Symantha and Terry Redwine, Douglasville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Joyce Steele, Maryville; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lavania Hampton, Madisonville, Wilma Sneed, Sweetwater; sister-in-law, Ersa Kirkland, Maryville; brother-in-law and wife, Wallace and Thelma McCall, Maryville; several nieces and nephews.
