Margaret l. Canady-Coleman was born in Newport, TN on October 2, 1962 to Mary E. Hampton and Robert Canady. She had her formal education in the Newport City School and Cocke County High School. She attended Tennessee State University and Walters State Community College.
Margaret met and married Charles E. Coleman on October 7, 1983. She lived abroad while her husband served in the military. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring after eighteen years of dedicated service. She was the owner and operator of Coleman Designing and Art Gallery in Connecticut where the mastered in framing and Black Cultural Art.
They relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2004 where they currently reside. They continued with their art business until her illness in February 2009.
Margaret never met a stranger. She had a personality that drew people to her. Her long time friends from Connecticut visited her often. In the short time of living in Charlotte, she met and befriended many people. She was the glue that held the family together and will be greatly missed by all. Her family and friends will miss her greatly. She had her belief in the almighty Savior whom she spoke of often and how he blessed her in so many ways. Even in her worst days, she praised him.
She leaves to mourn her loss spouse, Charles, Sr.; sons, Charles, Jr. Schuyler; daughter Chaylia; mother, Mary E. Hampton; sister, Martha, A. Canady, Newport News, VA and Wanda Hampton-Fugate of Rogersville, TN; brothers, James (Carrie) Newport, TN and Michael Hampton of Phoenix, AZ, Ricky (Sue) Canady of Bristol, England' several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by her extended family Robert Lee, Lawrence, Deon, Darlene, Travanda and Bobby (The Canady Family) and the Bly-Hampton Family Reunion.
We give a special thanks to Presbyterian Hospital Cancer Unit of Charlotte, NC for their treatments and attentative care of Margaret. We also thank the Hospice Care Unit for their skills in the ease of her departure.
We the family thank her many friends who came often to celebrate her life, for their prayers, calls, food, and visitations during the time of her illness and the bereavement.
Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Manes Funeral Home.
Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday October 18, 2009 at Manes Funeral Home, Inc. Newport, TN interment will be at the Gum Spring Cemetery.
