(January 24, 1943 - October 20, 2015) Barbara Ellis, age 72, of Newport, passed away, Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Ellis; parents, Mack Lemuel France, Sr. and Lygatha France; brother, Mack L, France, Jr; sisters, Judy Saylor, Brenda Hartsell, two infant sisters; and son-in-law, Paul Shelton. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Kim Evans, Cindy Shelton; son Gary Ellis all of Newport; sisters, Ollie Saylor of Morristown and Marcy Mathis of Newport; brother-in-law, Bill Ellis of White Pine; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special aunt, Mary Brown of Newport and many other family and friends. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Manes Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 23, 2015 in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, with Chaplain Glen Bradley officiating.
