(March 17, 1922 - April 21, 2007) U.S. Veteran Sidney Wiley Hood, age 85, of Maryville, passed away Saturday morning, April 21, 2007, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. He was born March 17, 1922, in Reliance, TN. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum and served in the US Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy Cain Hood; and son, Marion Hood. He is survived by his wife, Mimia Hood of Maryvile; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Gary Waldo of Texas; son and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jewel Hood of Maryville and Dorcas Hood of Enterprise, AL; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 8:00 PM Monday, April 23, 2007, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Dr. Bob Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadway Baptist Church Building Fund, 2329 E. Broadway, Maryville, TN 37804 or to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber, Knoxville, TN 37809. Family and friends will meet 11:00 AM Tuesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the graveside service and interment.
