Fred E. Loepp, 86, formerly of the Albion-Springboro area died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Fairview Manor Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
He was born in Wagner, S.D., Feb. 12, 1911, a son of the late Walker and Julia Marks Loepp. Before retiring in 1980, he had worked for Kieffer Industries for more than 40 years. He was a member of LakeErie Masonic Lodge 662 in Cleveland, having been inducted there in 1943. He also was a member of the VFW in Albion, the Albion Moose Club and the Conneaut Coin Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing Scrabble.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Peter, Theodore, Otto and Robert Loepp, and two sisters, Sally Schneider and Minnie Naujokes.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor McNally Loepp; three daughters, Eleanor Kaye and Eileen Raab, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Joan Shockowski of Surprise, Ariz.; a son, Fred Loepp II and his wife Patricia of Deckerville, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Samuel J. Steff Funeral Home, 188 E. State St., Albion, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there Monday at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Spring Cemetery, Springboro.
