Fisher, Romes Claborn, known to the world as R.C., passed on to Heaven March 6, 2009. R.C. was a long-time member of Meridian Baptist Church where he was an active deacon. After a stint in the US Air Force during World War II, R.C. became a machinist at Fulton Sylphon Division of Robertshaw. He retired from there as foreman of the Model Shop. Following the death of his first wife, Maude Lane, he wed Julia Farmer and relocated from South Knoxville to Kodak where they enjoyed their membership at Beech Springs Baptist Church. R.C. was preceded in death by his brother Hugh Fisher; sister Frenchie Vinyard; and half-brother James Morgan.
Survivors
He is survived by his wife, Julia; son Johnnie Fisher and wife Vicki; grandson, Scott Fisher, and granddaughter Lynn Paul; sister, Myrtle Irwin; half-sister, Willie Dyer. R.C. was extremely close to Julia’s loving family: Robert and Faye Farmer, John and Linda Douglas, James and Jackie Farmer, Donald and Patsy Farmer, Mike and Darlene Lively, and Canaan and Paulette Henderson. The entire family extends their gratitude to the staff of Sevier County Healthcare for their loving attention during R.C.’s last days.
Service
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Beech Springs Baptist Church in Kodak. Funeral service Tuesday, 7:00 PM, Beech Springs Baptist Church, Rev. Dallas Gibson officiating. Family and friends will meet at Pollards Cemetery in Kodak at 10:00 AM Wednesday for interment services. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Fisher, Robert, James and Donald Farmer, John Douglas, Mike Lively, and Canaan Henderson. Family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Beech Springs Baptist Church.
