BERRY, B.M., JR. (JUNIOR) - age 80 of Morristown, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2007. Mr. Berry was a member of Alpha Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon from 1953 until 1998 when he was honored as Deacon Emeritus on May 24. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the army in Japan. Mr. Berry sang in the church choir, was Sunday School Superintendent, Church Training Director and taught a youth boy's class. He and Fred Woolwine were two of the founding fathers of Little League Baseball in Morristown. He was also an avid golfer and bowler. He was a supervisor and/or plant manger at the following companies: Berkline, Modern, Imperial, Stephen/black and Cleveland Chair Co. of Cleveland, TN. Previous to retirement he was self-employed as the owner of Berry's Upholstery for many years. He was preceded in death by: his parents, B.M. Berry, Sr. and Nola Whitehead Berry and his brother, Johnny Berry. He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Doris "Dee" Purkey Berry; brother and sister-in-law, Earlton and the late Barbara Berry; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald Calvin and Bobbie Berry, Don Berry, all of Morristown; Judy Berry Hope of Maryville; grandchildren, Chris and Timmy Berry, Wes (Danielle) Hope, Shelli Perkins, Ben and Jeremy Garcia; great-grandchildren, Allison Garcia, Ryan Berry, Madilynn Hope and Drake Garcia; several beloved nieces, nephews, many friends and his beloved dog, DeeJee. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at Alpha Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m., Reverend J. W. Rayburn of Greenville, South Carolina and Andy Milam of Morristown officiating. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Jarnagin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to: the Forward and Faith Fund at Alpha Baptist Church or to any Parkinson's research foundation.
