(August 31, 1965 - March 18, 2007) Johnny William Cody, Sr. age 41, of Newport, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007 at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison Cody; grandfather, Author Cody; grandmother, Lindy Manes; uncle, Wade Cody all of Newport. He is survived by his mother, Arrine Cody of Newport; daughter, Heather Lynn Cody of Sevierville; son, Johnny William Cody, Jr., of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Larry Lane of Newport; sister, Cathy Carter of Strawberry Plains; brother, James Cody of Newport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Joe and Carol Cody of Newport, David and Terri Parker of Sevierville. He is also survived by Clareance Cody, Grace Hill, Jeter Cody, Tommy Cody, Bee Moorefield, Clayton Cody and John Cody all of Newport; several nieces and nephews; also special friend Jessica Ellis. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Milburn Shelton officiating. Burial will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 21, 2007 in Rankin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vinson Lane, Casey Stephenson, Jordan Cody, James Cody, Allan Styles and Randy Fraley. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
