James W. Haven Sr., age 80, of Alcoa, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at the family home. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War and earning the Purple Heart. Mr. Haven was retired from Vulcan Materials of Maryville, and a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by parents, William “Buck” and Francis Haven; wife, Alma J. Heaton Haven; son, Richard “Rick” Haven; sister, Mary Hodge; and brothers, Bill, Bob, Charlie, and Ronnie. He is survived by his son, James W. “Jimmy” Haven Jr. and wife, Karen, of Ocala, Fla.; brothers, Jack, and Carl E. “Ed” of Maryville; sisters, Norma J. Bryant of Rockwood, and Edith Burnett of Louisville; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Frank Curtis; brother-in-law, Stanley Heaton and wife, Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Barbara Haven; grandson, Caleb Haven; granddaughter, Crystal Correll; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 608 Ed Davis Road, Maryville, TN 37801. Inurnment service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at Nelson Chapel Cemetery.
