Poynter, Stanley Earl Age 66 of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008. He graduated from Young High School in 1959 and attended the University of Tennessee. An Entrepreneur at heart, Stan was the former owner of several businesses including Stans Market The Village Market Surplus and Salvage Sales of Tennessee Poynter Textiles among others. Always active, he was a former member of the South Knoxville Optimist Club; Founder and past president of the Forks of the River Optimist Club. Stan loved children he was a former Director of West Central Recreation and was active in little league and youth sports for over 20 years. After semi retirement, Stan followed his lifelong passion for fishing and became a fishing guide on Norris Lake. He became one of the founding members of the Tennessee Striped Bass Association. He is preceded in death by his Father, Orville Earl Poynter and brother, Ronald Lynn Poynter.
Survivors
He is survived by his mother, Mary Pollard of Knoxville, TN; Son Chris Poynter and wife Elise of Knoxville; Son Scott Poynter of Orlando; Son Kevin Poynter and wife Kelly of Tampa; his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; Clark and Cole Poynter of Knoxville; Savannah Avery Poynter of Tampa.
Service
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
