DONAHUE, ALBA ETTA NEEDHAM - of Corryton, passed away at home Saturday morning, May 2, 2009. She was born April 24, 1915 on a farm near Luttrell, in Union County. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Warwick's Chapel Baptist Church. She was a member of Union Baptist Church on Washington Pike for 59 years. Preceded in death by husband, Virgil A. Donahue, in 1978; parents, John J. and Jessie Ledgerwood Needham; brothers, Clarence, Robert, and Jim Henry Needham; sisters, Reba Donahue, Grace Frost, and Eileen Merritt. Survivors: daughter, Doris Jean Donahue Henderlight and husband Frank; grandson, Jerry Henderlight and wife Stacey; step-great grandson, Nicholas; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends and traveling buddies. The family offers special thanks to her physician, Dr. Amy Rosine, and to the caregivers at St. Mary's Home Health and St. Mary's Home Hospice, all of whom gave her love and dignity along with the best of care. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Monday at Stevens Chapel with Rev. John Thomerson and Pastor Craig Cummings officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. Pallbearers will be nephews. Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, 6701 Washington Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918. Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
