Mayme Anthony Abbott, born December 16, 1919, passed away Friday morning at home on her ninety-second birthday. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 80 years. She was preceded in death by her parents John Lee and Lennie Steele Anthony; brothers Fred and Bill (and sister-in-law Billie) Anthony; sisters and brothers-in-law Lillian and Porter Gillespie, Frankie and Leland Willocks.
Survived by loving husband of 69 years, James Howard Abbott; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Tony) and Martha Abbott, John and Kathy Abbott; daughters and sons-in-law, Camilla and Donald Benson, Carmen and James Bramblett; grandchildren, Travis (Paige) Benson, Marshall (Brande) Benson, Nina (David) Shultz, Ash (Christy) Bramblett, all of Maryville, Tyler (Erisha) Abbott of Ringgold, GA, and Jordan Bramblett of Mobile, AL; step grandchildren, Wesley Whitehead of Coleen, TX and Julie Leach of Maryville; great-grandchildren, India and Alice Bramblett, Sam Shultz, Nolan and Kellen Abbott, Hailey Shultz, Bree Anna Leach, Bryce Lyons; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Elizabeth Anthony of Longview, Texas; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 3:00 pm with Rev. Greg Long, Rev. Ted Davis, and Rev. Ash Bramblett officiating. The interment to follow immediately at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm prior to the funeral. The family wishes to thank Blount Memorial Hospice and Palliative Care for their assistance in her care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for Foreign Missions, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3736 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37804.
