Dial, Jean Leisey, age 75, of Farragut passed away May 25, 2002, at Park West Hospital after waging a 34-year battle with a rare form of cancer. She was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, but lived most of her life in Tennessee where she was active in school, church and community activities. A 45-year resident of Farragut, she was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and the Special Studies Sunday School Class. She was a charter member of the Concord Chapter of the Eastern Star, a long-time member of the Farragut Garden Club, and served in numerous leadership positions in Girl Scouting, including terms as neighborhood chairman and as a troop leader. In addition to her community activities, she enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, visiting all 50 US states and 56 foreign countries. She worked for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta between 1945 and 1949, where she met her husband of 53 years, Ralph E. Dial. She later worked as a customer service agent for Sears. She was preceded in death by her father and mother James H. and Anna Leisey, sister Marian Small of Florida, and brothers Robert, Gilbert and Raymond Sprague, all of Pennsylvania. Her oldest daughter, Cheryl Lynne, died in 1971 at age 18. She is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Dial of Farragut, daughter Kristye Dial of Atlanta, and daughter and son-in-law Robin and Phillip Rawls of Montgomery, Alabama. Grandchildren Gantt Rawls and Leigh Rawls are also of Montgomery. A memorial service will be held at the Concord United Methodist Church on Monday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Beecher Dunsmore and Rev. Larry Trotter officiating.
