PRICE, JOHN D. - of Kingston died Friday February 19, 1999 of heart disease and alzheimers. He was born Nov. 20, 1916 in Sevier County. His parents now deceased were Issac and Bessie Price. He graduated from the University of Tennessee where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce. Mr. Price came to Oak Ridge in 1943 as an employee of Tennessee Eastman. He continued with Union Carbide, Y-12 personnel dept. until his retirement in 1954. He and his wife Hazel established Price Florist in 1954 and operated the business at 1021 Oak Ridge Turnpike for 25 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Oak Ridge and was active in the Oak Ridge Rotary Club. Mr. Price had been a resident of Kingston for the past 18 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Kingston where he served as chief decorator of the church for a number of years. He was a member of Union Lodge 38 F&AM Kingston and the Scottish Rite. He cherished his many friends and his family. Gardening, boating and golf were activities he enjoyed. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Burl Price. Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Hazel D. Price; sister, Ersabelle Messamore of Knoxville; brothers, Roe H. Price and the Rev. Brinkley A. Price of Philadelphia, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Mildred Price; two devoted nieces, Loris Sitzlar and Shirley Colyer. The funeral will be Saturday February 20, 1999 at 8 p.m., in Kyker Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Murray and the Rev. Roy Graves officiating, with a eulogy by a very dear friend Raymond Rhinehart. Burial will be Sunday at 2 p.m., the Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.
