COOPER, WILLIE LEA - age 95, a lifelong resident of Knoxville, died Monday morning, February 1, 1999, at her home. She was a member of Second United Methodist Church and the Emmaus Sunday School class which she attended as recently as three weeks ago. A gifted pianist, Mrs. Cooper played for Houston Presbyterian Church, various retirement groups, the Senior Saints at Baptist Tabernacle and her own Sunday School class. Willie was a strong, dedicated Christian who loved the church, loved her Lord, loved people and studied and loved the Bible. She was a highly motivated person who, right up until the time of her death, lived alone and took care of her needs. Willie shared her gifts with others and now she has received God's gift of everlasting life. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Cooper; a son, Gerald Cooper; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Loy; and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Harold W. and Ada A. Cooper of Seymour; granddaughter, Karen Diane Cooper-Martin of Monrovia, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Jewell Love of Knoxville; nieces, Mrs. Randall (Melodie) Williams of Knoxville, Mrs. Jack (Jaynice) Caskey and Mrs. Johnny (Brenda) Templeton, both of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Johnny (Betty) Wagner of Gainesville, Fla; step-granddaughter, Mrs. Charles (Glenda) Johnson of Seymour; step, great-granddaughter, Mrs. Danny (Sandra) Owenby; step, great, great-granddaughter, Kara Owenby. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-7:30 p.m. followed by funeral service at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. James Russell Taylor and Rev. Gerald Macfarland officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11 a.m. interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Ministry of Second United Methodist Church, 1524 Western Ave., Knoxville, TN 37921. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
