A. D. Messer, age 74, of Newport, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Messer, infant son Robert Dewaine Messer, both parents, one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his daughters Darlene Finchum (Bill); Brenda Messer, and Patricia Sisk (Steven); sons David Messer (Penny), Cecil Messer, and Michael Messer; grandchildren: Chris Smith, Jason Smith, Josh Messer, Cora Sisk, Jessica Messer, Johnathan Scott Coffey, Heather Messer, and Kenneth Messer; lovely great-granddaughters Alyssa and Addy; brothers Cecil Messer and Ed Messer; sister Lydia Medley; special friends Tina and Ken Buckner and April Allen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Ball, Rev. Rocky Ball, and Rev. Rick Carr officiating. Interment will follow in Stokely Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home.
