James William (Bill) Huff, age 78 of Maryville, formerly of Powell, TN, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011, at Asbury Health Center. Bill was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Powell. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from United Airlines after 30 years. Following his career with UAL, his fun-time jobs included: Real Estate, Dollywood, Melaleuca, Morgan Transport, ADESA, and Dollar General. Bill never met a stranger, enjoyed life to the fullest, and always knew what time it was. He was preceded by his mother and father, Edith (James) and Clyde Huff. Survivors: sister Bobbie Lawson (Charles) of Georgia; brothers Wilfred Huff (Kay) of Maryland, Carl Huff (Sue) of Texas; loving wife of 56 years, Jama Ruth (Tipton) Huff; daughters Kathi Hofstad (Erik) of Seymour, Alice Thompson (Pete) of Memphis; granddaughter Stacy Thompson of Memphis; special niece-daughter Melanie Holley (Stuart) of Chattanooga; many nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life 3 p.m., Sunday, March 27, Bethel United Methodist Church, 5955 W. Emory Road, Powell, TN 37849. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, Powell.
