Burgin, Homer F. –age 76 of South Knoxville, departed his life on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 to be with his Lord and Savior. He was retired from Texaco Oil Company and a longtime member of Galilee Baptist Church. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by parents, Freeman and Neva Burgin; wife, Ruth Burgin; sister, Rosetta and brother, Eugene.
Survivors
He is survived by sons, Mike Burgin, Chris Burgin and wife, Sonnie, Pat Burgin; daughter, Zoe Terrell and husband, Bobby; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, J.N. Burgin and wife, Margaret, Darrahl Burgin and wife, Geralyn; sister-in-law, Betty Burgin; several nieces and nephews.
Service
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, June 19, 2009 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM, Pastor W. A. Galyon officiating. Family and friends will meet at Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11 AM interment service on Saturday, June 20, 2009. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Williamsburg Villas for the loving care that they provided and to Dr. Joseph Kennedy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Galilee Baptist Church, 8622 Pickens Gap Road, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Sutherland Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919.
