Beckner, age 80 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 7, 2008. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. Preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Ollie Beckner; mother, Martha Lumpkin; sister, Iva McGinnis; brothers, Cecil and Bill Beckner. Survived by wife of 50 years, Vera Beckner; son, Darrell Beckner and wife Tammie; daughter, Carolyn Byrd of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Shay and Desiree Beckner, Megan “Baby Girl” Beckner, Nicky and Amanda “Susie” Byrd; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Baylee; Heidi his grand- dog; brother Jack and wife Grace; sisters, Louise Hurst, Dorothy Russell and Mary Sue Jones and husband Bobby ; many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers- in -law. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 8:00 pm Fountain City chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Watson and Rev. Rick Howard officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday at 10:45 am at Greenwood Cemetery for interment at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City.
