Eudena Wood, age 83, of Newport, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was employed by American Enka and Ledwell Motel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Scott (L.S.) Wood; parents Lemuel and Ferida Phillips; brothers, Creed, David, Loval, Guy, Frank, Hugh and Wade Phillips; sisters, Trula Williams and Hazel Robinson. She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Sutton; brothers, Lemuel (JR) (Peggy) Phillips, Jr.; grandchildren Jeremy (LeAnn) Sutton and Amanda Carver; great-grandchildren, Chezni Carver, Aubri Carver, Brayden Sutton, Jackson Sutton and soon to be Mason Sutton; sisters-in-law, Peggy Kilgore, Barbara Welch, Wanda Holt,Shelby Phillips and Shirley Shelton; brother in law Howell Robinson several nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Special “Thank You” to the staff and caregivers of Jefferson County Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Manes Funeral Home with Rev. Ransom Hall and Rev. Fred Cagle officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Monday in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Jefferson County Nursing Home Activities Department. Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com.
