M. L. Cureton obituary
- [S4] Knoxville News-Sentinel (Tennessee), 26 Mar 1991.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday for a Sevierville police officer who was killed Sunday in a motorcycle accident.
Terry L. Cureton, 33, of Allensville Road, Sevierville, was returning to Sevierville on a motorcycle he had stored at his parents' home in Cosby when the motorcycle left Long Springs Road on a curve and hit a bridge abutment, Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Arthur Galyon reported. The motorcycle then fell down the embankment and landed on a rock.
Mr. Cureton had served with the Sevierville Police Department since 1987 and had been assigned to the 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force for about two years, said Randy Parton, the drug task force's director. He had served as a sheriff's deputy in Cocke County, Parton said.
"He was a good officer and an excellent agent, and he's going to be missed bad," Parton said.
Mr. Cureton is survived by his wife, Helen "Sissy" Cureton, his parents, M.L. and Arlene Cureton of Cosby and his grandmother, Bertie Jenkins of Cosby.
Services will be at Manes Funeral Home in Newport, followed by burial at Waters-Large Cemetery. Law officers from Sevierville and the surrounding counties will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends today from 6-9 p.m.
