Child uninjured in Monday mishap Author: Duay O'Neil NEWPORT-A four-year-old child was uninjured Monday when the vehicle he was in struck another car. According to Newport Police Captain Brad Ball, James Benjamin Watts, III, 4, was a passenger in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by his father when the two stopped at Pizza Plus, 723 Cosby Highway. The child's father reportedly left his son in the vehicle while he went into the business to pick up an order of food. While the father was inside, the child apparently placed the vehicle into gear. It then rolled down a steep driveway, across the highway, and entered the parking lot of East Tennessee Auto where it struck a white Kia owned by that company. Ball's report of the incident said that there was no visible damage to the Watts vehicle and only a "scruff" mark to the driver's side front bumper of the Kia.
