FARMER, LOU ELLA - age 95, of Townsend, died at 11:25 a.m. Monday March 27, 2000 at the family's home. Mrs. Farmer was born and raised in Townsend and Dunn Hollow. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church since October 20, 1919. She taught children's Sunday school classes for over 40 years. She also taught school at Coker Hill and Townsend schools. Preceded in death by her husband, Clark Farmer; parents, Perry & Merniva Abbott; brothers, Carl & Joe Abbott; sister, Nina Abbott. Survivors: daughter, LaVerne Farmer of Townsend; brother, Ed Abbott of Townsend; brother & sister-in-law, Perry & Jennie Abbott of Townsend. Funeral service 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at Bethel Baptist Church, Townsend, with Rev. Darren Wigington and Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 12-3 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church. Smith Mortuary, Maryville in charge of arrangements. 983-1000.
