George Burchfield, Jr., age 81 of Maryville died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a United States Army-Air Force Veteran. He retired from ALCOA with 43 years of service and was a member of their 25-Year Club. Preceded in death by: 1st wife, Gladys E. Rollins Burchfield; parents, George Sr. and Gracie Burchfield; brothers, John, Leonard, Charles, and Roy Burchfield; sisters, Lara Burchfield, Iva Lee Quiette, Cecil Lambert, Annabell White. Survivors include: wife, Edna Finger Burchfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Lynn and Cathy Burchfield of Walland and James E. and Denise Burchfield of Sevierville; step-daughters, Pat Green and Jan Oliver of Maryville; stepson, Gerry Finger of Maryville; six grandchildren; brother, Elmer Burchfield of Walland; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2004 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Arthur Pedigo officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2004 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the entombment. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2004, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.smithmortuary.com.
