William ''Lee'' Tipton, age 86 of Maryville passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at his home. He was preceded in death by: wife, Anna M. Tipton; parents, Rev. and Mrs. Johnnie Tipton; sisters, Ruth Myers, Lois Lane; brothers, Vernie and Roy Tipton. Mr. Tipton was a descendent of Cades Cove where he was born and spent his early years growing up and going to school. He retired from ALCOA and was a member of their Fifty-Year Club. He joined Cades Cove Memorial Baptist Church when it was organized and was the choir leader for more than twenty years. He also was lead singer for the Old Cades Cove Memorial Quartet with sister Ruth as alto, brother Roy as tenor, Carl White as bass singer and sister-in-law Myrtle as piano player. He attended Piney Level Baptist Church. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Jessie Myers; granddaughter, Kimberly White; grandson-in-law, Mike White; great-grandson, Trevor Lee White; sisters, Inez Lord, Jean Swift, Betty Seaton, Shirley Connaster; several nieces and nephews; special neighbor, Wade Lane. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2004 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Carl White and Rev. George Macht officiating. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 10, 2004 at Cades Cove Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
