U.S. Veteran Lawrence David “L.D.” Brooks, born November 19, 1932, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 12, 2015. L.D. was a member of Leadvale Missionary Baptist Church in White Pine, Tennessee and a former member at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Newport, Tennessee where he served as a deacon for forty years. He was a veteran having served in the U S Army. He retired as Manager from Newport Utilities Waste Water Operations to enjoy time on his farm with his wife, Bea and his grandchildren in White Pine, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Bessie Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beatrice Wilson Brooks; son, David (Mikki) Brooks of Jefferson City, TN; daughter, Jan (Jerry) Sneed of Newport, TN; grandchildren, Jordan Brooks, Austin Brooks, Sydney Sneed, Hannah Brooks, Angela Greenman, and Juli Sams; great-grandchildren, Josie Brooks, Olivia Sams, and Mila Sams; sisters, Cloyas Brown, Elizabeth Shelton, and Atlas Campbell; special sister-in-law, Mary Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, and many loving friends. Funeral Services will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Leadvale Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Harkleroad and Rev. Charles Robison officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at Leadvale Missionary Baptist Church prior to the services. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the Union Cemetery with Dr. David Green officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice or Leadvale Missionary Baptist Church. Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com. Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
