James Earl Payne, age 68, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at his home. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. Sr. and Elizabeth Finger Payne. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis Brown Payne; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindi and Steve Simmons, and Janie and Mike Latham; granddaughters, Ashley Hicks and Lauren Latham; grandson, Michael Latham; step-grandson, Aaron Simmons; brother and sister-in-law, Robert R. Jr. and Donna Payne; niece, Susan Payne; nephews, Andy and Eddie Payne; step-nephews, Tony and Marcus Payne; most special caregivers and son, Joe, Debbie, and James Benson; special uncle, Gary Payne; mother-in-law, Mabel Keller Brown; and numerous special cousins, friends and neighbors. A private viewing will be held for the immediate family followed by the graveside service. Interment will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Carpenters Campground Cemetery, with Rev. Robert Burns officiating.
