RUSSELL, VIRGINIA - age 70, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Sunday November 30, 2008 at St. Mary's Medical Center, after a lengthy illness with Crohn's Disease. She attended McCampbell United Methodist Church. A devoted mother and a long time employee of White Store on Market Square and retired from Wal-Mart. She was preceded in death by parents, Thurman L. and Cora Yardley; husband, Glenn C. Russell; and a brother, Ray Yardley. Surviving Mrs. Russell are her sons, Martin Russell (Lisa) and Brian Russell; daughter, Karen Russell (Robert) of West Virginia; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, 5 sisters, several nieces and nephews; and very special friend, John Clifford Black. The family will receive friends Wednesday December 3, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Service will follow at 8:00 with Rev. Rocky Glenn officiating, in the chapel of McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet on Thursday December 4, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in Rutledge Pike Cemetery for graveside services. Arrangements by McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Hwy (637-7955).
