BAILEY, REVEREND RON - age 66 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center following complications from a lung transplant. He was Pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy & Edna Bailey and brother, Dwight Bailey. He is survived by: his loving wife of 46 years, Carole Bailey who never left his side; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Young and husband Tim of Farragut, Kelley Miller and husband Tim of Seymour; grandchildren, Nick Young and Stephanie Miller; sister Beverly Smith and husband Dan of Knoxville; nieces and nephews, Daniel Smith of Knoxville, Melissa Smith of Nashville and Laura Smith of Clarksville; several cousins and special friends who supported him during his transplant. Ron was a faithful servant of God and pastored many churches for over 34 years. He pastored: Shady Baptist Church, Sevierville; Paw Paw Plains Baptist Church, Lenoir City; Lakeview Baptist Church, Rockford; Concord Hills Baptist Church, West Knoxville; he also served as Assistant Pastor of Beech Grove Baptist Church, West Knoxville; Miracle Baptist Church, Knoxville; Greenback Memorial Baptist Church, Greenback and Hillcrest Baptist Church, Knoxville. We would like to offer a special, "thank you" to Hillcrest Baptist Church for all the love support and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you to many special friends for all the benefits that were held to help us with this medical need. A special thank you to the Lung Transplant Team at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Also a special thank you to Dr. LeMense and staff and to the staff at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for their care during Ron's illness. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Valley Grove Baptist Church, Chapman Highway with Reverend Arthur Pedigo, Reverend Chuck Young and Reverend Charles Lynch officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Grove Baptist Church, Chapman Highway, prior to the funeral. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at Stevens Mortuary to go in procession to Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. graveside service and interment. Stevens Mortuary Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway is serving the family of Mr. Bailey. Mr. Bailey's guest book is also available at www.stevensmortuaryinc.com
