EVANS, DONALD R. (DONNIE) - age 65, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 19, 2004 following a sudden illness at the family home. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church, Knoxville. Donnie was the owner of Knoxville Carburetor in Knoxville for several years, until he was forced to retire because of health. Donnie was an avid race car participant in the local area for years stock car and drag racing were his interests. He was known to these circles and by his longtime customers as "the best Carburetor man in town." He was preceded in death by precious daughter Cathi Patterson father Ray C. Evans (what a glorious reunion). Survivors: very devoted life partner and wife, Carol H. Evans, Knoxville beloved children, daughter Tanya Oxendine, Maryville sons, Donnie and Stephen Evans of Atlanta step daughter Sherry Lambert, Maryville a very loving mother Gladys I. Evans, Rockford brother, Jack Evans, Rockford sister Barbara (Jeanie) Underwood and his "Buddy" brother in law Harold Underwood. Special mention of special friends, Cracker, Riley, Bud, Larry and Lynn, Benny and Duane. You can tell the quality of a man by the quality of his family and friends, Donnie you will be missed! Service, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, South Side Baptist Church, Rev. Clarence Gresham officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Announcement by Mynatt Funeral Home.
