Fate “Pete” Coggins, age 77 of Greeneville Hwy, Newport a retired iron worker, member of Iron Workers Local Union #384, passed away Sept. 13, 2007 at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by companion of 50 years, Bettye Gentry and her children, Craig Gentry, Kim, Rickey and Brandon Derrick; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Major and Opal Coggins of Dandridge, TN, Jeter and Maggie Coggins of Girard, OH, J. Harold and Diane Coggins of White Pine, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Zina and Chris Ganas of Savannah, GA, Serita and Glen Bible of Newport, TN, Shirley Goodnough of Simpsonville, SC, Geraldine Hartsell of Parrottsville, a host of very special nieces and nephews, and his special “four-legged boy” Spanky. He was the son of the late Ike and Addie Black Coggins and was preceded in death by sisters, Zeta Rollins, Juanita Ball, and brother Don Coggins. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Dandridge, TN. Family and friends may pay their respects at the home of Bettye Gentry. Brown Funeral Home in charge.
