SHARPE, GORDON EMERT - of Farragut, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 2:14 a.m. at Saint Mary's Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Concord where he served as a Deacon. Gordon was born November 19, 1938 to the late Mattie Lynn (Emert) Sharp Trammell and Orlie Ottis Sharp of Gatlinburg, at the same Saint Mary's Hospital. He grew up in Gatlinburg and after graduating from Pi Beta Phi High School and East Tennessee State University, was employed in Development and Research for Great Lakes Carbon Fiber in Elizabethton, Tennessee. The company became Fortafil Fibers of Rockwood, Tennessee, and he retired from there in 2004. Gordon was a member of Cherokee Lodge # 728. He was also preceded in death by: his stepfather, Charles Stanfield Trammell, who was his "Dad" beginning when he was 4. Mr. Trammell, a close friend of his father, married his mother after Mr. Sharp died; by grandparents, Tillman McCaga Sharp and Clarissa Emert Robertson; and John Jones Emert and Martha Caroline Layman. Gordon is the loving husband of Freda Castle Sharpe; He remains father, "Daddy," "Dad" of Teresa Michele Gray, Rebecca Elaine Sharpe, and Gordon Nathanael Sharpe; He will always be "Gran-pere" to Trainor McAllister Gray and John Castle Gray. A Masonic Service will be held by Cherokee Lodge at 7:30 p.m. Thursday followed by a Funeral Service at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Steve Peek officiating. The family and friends will meet Friday at Shiloh Cemetery, Pigeon Forge for an 11:00 a.m. interment service.
