KOPROWSKI, THEODORE E. - age 79, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center. A native of New York City, Mr. Koprowski attended Cornell University, and graduated from Ohio State University. While at Cornell, he played ice hockey and baseball. At Ohio State, he played baseball, as well as playing baseball after college. He was retired from Union Carbide and Lockheed Martin after 50 years of service as a chemical engineer, and was an avid golfer. Mr. Koprowski was preceded in death by his parents, who were Polish immigrants to the United States, his wife, Geraldine Koprowski, and a sister, Wanda Stella. Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Nelson of Knoxville, and Karen Koprowski of Oak Ridge; a son, Steve Koprowski of West Virginia; one granddaughter, Ashley Nelson of Knoxville; one sister, Laura Zurowski, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Martin Oak Ridge Chapel. Cremation will follow the services. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home, 1017 Turnpike, Oak Ridge. 483-4341.
