MORTON, BILLY RAY - age 66 of Mascot was called home Friday, October 20, 2006 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. Member of Strawberry Plains United Methodist Church. He was retired from the US Navy and KUB after 36 years. He was a proud member of the bluegrass group, House Mountain Grass. Preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Birdie Morton; sisters, Mary Morton and Thelma Cole; and brother, Ernest R. Morton. Survivors include wife of 44 years, Shelia Morton; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Roger Wilkerson of Halls, Melissa and David Stallings of Blaine, and Stephanie and Bryan Barkley of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kayland and Kelsey Evans, Tiffany, Matthew and Faythe Stallings, and Harley Barkley; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and G.W. Hurd of Mascot, Mollie and Jimmy Woods of New Market; sister, Janie Stevenson of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jeanette Morton of Sevierville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8 pm Sunday, October 22, 2006 in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. John Crabtree officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:15 am Monday at Bridges Funeral Home and go in procession to Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11 am committal service. Pallbearers: Ronnie Chasteen, Wayne McDaniel, Jimmy McDaniel, Jan Majors, Ronnie Treece, Ray Treece, and J.B. Morrell. Full military honors will be provided by East TN Veteran Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 523-4999.
