Charles Drew Inman, Sr., age 75, of Marion, NC, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the CLC Center at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC.
He was born November 17, 1934, in Newport, TN to the late Rev. C. H. and Edna Inman. Mr. Inman was a Korean Conflict veteran of the United States Army and worked in the maintenance department of Columbia Forestry Products. He was a member of the American Legion and an avid bowler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Clarence Inman and Nathan Inman and sisters Louise Reed and Margaret Ledford.
He is survived by his wife Marty Maney Inman of the home; sons Bucky Inman and wife Vanessa; John Inman and wife Angie; and Gary Inman and wife Nicole, all of Marion; daughters Susan Benfield and husband Oren and Sheila Lindsey, all of Marion; brothers Cecil Inman and wife Mary Lou of Monroe Falls, OH and Wendy Inman of Morristown; sister Gladys Gregg and husband Randy of Newport; sisters-in-law Jo Inman and Paula Inman, both of Newport; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009, in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be on Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at 1:15 p.m. in McDowell Memorial Park.
