Sarten, Herbert Dexter age 73 passed away Thursday August 22, 2002 at his home in Lenoir City after a courageous battle with cancer. Herbert was a 20 year Air Force Veteran who served in Vietnam. He was a deacon emeritus and Senior Adult Men's Sunday School teacher at Kingston Pike Baptist Church. He served as a civil engineer in the Air Force and later worked as a plumber. Herbert loved his Lord, he loved his family, and he loved his fellow man. He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph Lee Sarten and Laura Currier Sarten; and brother, Joe Curtis Sarten. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lillian Johnson Sarten; daughter, Kathy Brown and husband, Tracy of Oak Ridge, daughter, Carolyn Bible and husband, Walter of Lenoir City; son, Herbert Sarten and wife, Missy of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Trey and John Sarten, Caitlyn Bible, and Leah and Aaron Brown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Opal Sarten of Harriman and Paul and Gail Sarten of Santa Maria, CA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Jack Green of Seymour, Lucille and the late Raymond Collins of Harriman, Loretta and B. J. Ridley of Santa Maria, CA, and Edna and Clyde Goins of Oliver Springs; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Saturday at Kingston Pike Baptist Church with Rev. Ronny Jones and Rev. R. C. Walker officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Click Funeral Home and proceed to Loudon Co. Memorial Gardens for graveside services at 2 p.m. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is serving the family of Herbert Sarten.
