He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Lynn Phillips; mother, Leota Phillips; father, Amos Phillips; and brothers, Don Phillips and Creed Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Betty Phillips of Newport; children, Debbie Cox and Judine Oakley, both of Gatlinburg, and Kim Smith, Kay James, Patricia Gunter and Dorothy Kyker, all of Newport; grandchildren, Brittany Cox, Jared Cox, Katie Oakley, Shawna Oakley, Sam Oakley, Daniel Worex, Jessica Williams, Jon Williams, Misty Barnes, Danny Spurgeon, Jennifer Phillips, Mandy Williams, Shelly Kyker, and Bart Kyker; great-grandchildren, Alyssa James and Corissa Phillips; and one nephew, Donnie Phillips of South Carolina. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Messer officiating, with burial in Stokely Chapel Cemetery with Lance Corporal Charles Roberts D.A.V.
