CLIFT, JOHN H. "POP", SR. - 72, lifelong resident of the Carter Community passed away Wed., Nov. 15, 2000, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He attended St. Paul United Methodist Church East. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he retired from Teamsters Local 519 in 1985 and was employed by Gentry Bus Lines. Preceded in death by parents, Chollie and Ollie Clift; brother, Robert L. Clift. Survived by wife of 53 years, Billie Knott Clift; son & daughter-in-law, John Howell and Pam Clift; beloved grandchildren, Matthew & Katie Clift; sister, Elizabeth Huskey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen & Wendell Cox, Betty & Arthur Moreland; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Gordon Sherrod , Helen and Kyle Roach; nieces & nephews, Susan, Jimmy Kyle & Judd Davis, Cindy and George Lewis, Ginger Wayne & Megan Atkins, Amy, Mark & Macy Meredith, Pam and Dusty Pierce, Wally and Susan Sherrod , Denny & Susan Sherrod , Steve & Sandra Roach, Susan & J. D. Rutledge, Stacey& Sheila Roach. All teachers & students of Smithwood Learning Center. Family & friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2000, at Steven's Mortuary and proceed to Trentville Cemetery for a 3 p.m. graveside service, Rev. Michael Driver officiating. Pallbearers: all past and present firefighters of Rural/Metro Station 26. Honorary pallbearers: Deedle Walker, Bill Walker, John Ellis, Jeff Clift, Charles Clift, Jack Robinson, J.C.
