Charles H. (Charlie) Jones, 76, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 5, 2012.
Charlie was born on August 13, 1935, in Newport, Tennessee.
He served honorably in the U. S. Army, achieving the rank of Specialist Third Class, and was a Korean War veteran.
In 1957, he married his beloved wife of 51 years, Hermine Rose Britzelmayr (Hermi), in Leipheim, Germany. After leaving the Army in 1957, Charlie took a job at Ford Motor Company's Cleveland Engine Plant, and the couple settled in North Ridgeville, Ohio.
In 1969, they adopted a daughter, Carmen.
Charlie worked at Ford for 33 years, retiring in 1990. After retirement, Charlie and Hermi joined their daughter in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with family, helping others, fixing cars, and playing Scrabble. Charlie and Hermi were also regulars at Sam's Town Casino.
Charlie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and, following Hermi's death in 2008, was under the care of his daughter. His last few years, he was a resident of the Cottages of Green Valley in Henderson, Nevada, a full-time memory care facility.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Hermi, parents Hobart and Geneva (Pet) Jones, sisters Olene Valentine and Alene Proffitt, and brothers Bronell, Artie, and Bill Jones.
He is survived by his daughter Carmen Spitzmesser, son-in-law Beau Sterling, grandson Garrett Spitzmesser, brother Mike Jones, sister Lois Askew, brother-in-law Wayne Askew, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Charlie will be buried at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, with military honors, at a date and time to be announced.
