Glenn H. Morris age 93 of South Knoxville passed away peacefully Monday, August 29th. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church for more than 50 years and had served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer and other positions. Glenn started work with Patent Button Company in 1940 which evolved into TRW. Worked as general office clerk, bookkeeper, office manager, plant accountant and plant manager. He retired after 43 years of service. Glenn also served as a Trustee at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital. During World War II he volunteered as an Aviation Cadet, U.S. Air Corp in 1943. He graduated as Flight Officer B-29 Bombardier in 1945. He was ready for assignment to crew and overseas service when the war ended. He returned home after over two years of service and resumed work at Patent Button Company, then retired in 1985.
He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Zella Morris; brother O.F. Morris, infant brother, Walter, Jr. and infant sister, Stella; two beloved wives June Wade Morris and Lois Rogers Morris; a dear son, Edward Morris.
Glenn's family consisted of three maternal children: Judy (Thomas) Davis, Edward (Connie) Morris, Gary (Lisa) Morris; Foster Children: Wayne (Joyce) Baker, Wanda (Martin) Hartley, Clyde (Gwyn) Baker; Step-Children: Sandra Rogers (Charles) McGheehen and Jeanne Rogers (David) White. From these there were 23 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with funeral service to follow at Meridian Baptist Church with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Interment will be Saturday, Sept. 3rd at 11:00 a.m., Meridian Baptist Cemetery, Old Sevierville Pike. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Gideons or your favorite charity.
