Delius ready to serve 10th District on Commission

Attorney Bryan Delius wants to do good works for the residents of District 10 on the Sevier County Commission, but he's not expecting big changes overnight.
"First, I'll find out what the job entails," he said. "I don't presuppose that I'm going to come in and manufacture a great deal of change."
Delius wants to work with other commissioners to provide utility water and sewer service in District 10's communities. He also supports the possible establishment of a county sewer and water department.
"That would benefit the county as a whole," he said.
Delius has practiced law in Sevierville for 13 years. The readers of The Mountain Press voted him the best attorney in Sevier County in 2005.
This background as an attorney will help when it comes to crafting local laws, Delius said.
"What I do will be beneficial in my being able to give advice about possible ramifications of (local ordinances)," he said. "There could be a far-reaching impact beyond the local level."
Delius had warm words about fellow Commissioner-elect Kenneth Whaley, saying that his background in road construction would provide important skills to the commission as a whole.
Born and raised in Seymour on his family's farm, Delius is the son of Doris and the late Cue Delius. With wife, Summer, and their daughter, Brelan, he still lives on the farm where they raise cattle and performance horses. The family attends Sevier Heights Baptist Church.
It was getting back out into his own community that Delius truly enjoyed during the campaign.
"(I most enjoyed) meeting people," he said. "It was truly a joy to get out. I went door to door."
A 1995 graduate of Seymour High school, Delius attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with honors in agriculture. After working for ConAgra for two years, he enrolled in the University of Tennessee College of Law.
