LOCKETT, DR. WILLIAM LONES - age 81, of Knoxville, born March 31, 1919, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Knoxville. He practiced general Dentistry in Knoxville from 1946 until his retirement in 1984. He graduated from UT college of Dentistry in 1943 and then served as a Captain in the United States Army. He was President of the Second District Dental Society in 1958, and Treasurer of Tennessee State Dental Association for six years. He was a life member and delegate to the American Dental Association. He was a fellow in both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He was a member of the Knoxville Rotary Club for 35 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Wilma Waller Lockett; daughter, Jane Lockett Tragesser; son & daughter in law, William A. and Sara M. Lockett; granddaughter, Julia A. Lockett; granddaughters and grandsons in law, Laura T. and Matthew J. Morrison & Amy T. & Joshua M. Hethcox. Family & friends will meet at Highland Memorial Cemetery Fri. at 12:45 p.m. for a 1 p.m. graveside & interment service with Dr. David W. Hull officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the First Bapt. Church of Knoxville, 510 West Main St. Knoxville, Tn. 37902. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
