HERRON, DOUGLAS E. - age 71, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, December 4, 1998, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. A native of Knoxville, he was the son of the late Pleas and Blanche Bright Herron. He retired with 30 years of service at ORNL in Oak Ridge, and was a longtime member of Hines Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by: his sister, Ruth Jesse; and brothers, Buck, Earl, E.J., Charlie and Bill Herron. He is survived by his loving family: wife, Mrs. Laura Ruth Herron, Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Buster and Julie Herron, Loudon; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Pete Cordell, Knoxville, Teresa and Mark Burton, Knoxville, Donna and David Franklin, Lenoir City; grandchildren, Matthew, Brandy, Shaun, Ashley, Timothy, Andrew, Audra and Tim; one great-grandchild, Adara; brother, Fred Herron, Knoxville; sisters, Margaret Blazer, Morristown, Pat Huffine and Wilma Pappas, both of Knoxville. Mr. Herron is at Highland West Funeral Home, 9913 Sherrill Lane, where the family will receive friends Sunday from 4 p.m., until the time of service at 8 p.m., with Rev. Alan Sims, Rev. Alan Williams and Rev. Tony Collins officiating.
