HAHN, CHESTER EDMON - age 77, of Newport, passed away Sunday at The Veterans Hospital in Johnson City following a lengthy illness. He was a Veteran of World War II, where he served in The U.S. Navy. He worked for 18 years at General Motors in Detroit, Michigan and at S&W Security for several years before his retirement in 1997. He was a member of The Masonic Lodge #234 of Newport and Eastern Star Chapter 461 of Newport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chan and Mellie Hahn. He is survived by his sister, Mabel Lunsford and her husband, Lee, of Newport; aunts, Lena Powell of Piedmont, SC, Aretta Ball of Greenville, SC; uncle, Joe Lee of Newport and several cousins. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Brown FuneralHome Chapel with Rev. Bill Murr officiating. Interment will be at Clark Cemetery at Deep Gap. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
