New cameras for Sheriff's Office vehicles
Each of 25 patrol cruisers in the Cocke County Sheriff's Department will soon have a new video camera installed that will run continuously when the engine is on. Sheriff Claude Strange, center, is holding one of the monitors that is being placed inside each cruiser. To the left is Patrolman Andy Tritt, and to the right, Patrolman C. J. Ball. The video system costs $2,500 for each one. They were bought with state and federal grants at no cost to Cocke County citizens, Strange said. The sheriff said the videos can be used in court proceedings to help settle any disputes in DUI and other arrests.
