David Jackson Ownby age 50, of Gatlinburg, TN., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 5:10 p.m.
“Husband, father, brother, son and friend, Heaven’s gates have opened to let you in. Although it’s hard for us to let you go, we know God’s arms wrap around you so there’s no more suffering, no more pain. We’ll always think of you when it begins to rain, as the rain falls down hard on the ground, we’ll feel your presence all around. We know you’re with God and you’re happy now, we know you’re smiling down. Although our hearts are broken inside, our emotions will be hard to hide, now God is with you and its time to let go. We love you and miss you more than you’ll ever know”
David was preceded in death by his father, Lenard Ownby.
Survivors include his loving wife, Cookie Ownby; son, Shawn David Ownby; Daughter, Ashley Folden and husband, Cameron; mother, Pauline Stinnett Dorsey; grandchildren, Morgan and Megan Ownby; Emma GiaCona; Takoda Folden; brothers, Howard N. Ownby and Earnest Hal Ownby; Sisters, Patricia L. Brennan and husband, Douglas; Joy D. Ownby and Marion “Nene” Franklin. Several nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Rawlings Funeral Home with Rev. D.A. Cole officiating.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
In keeping with David’s wishes, he will be placed with his father.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the David Ownby Fund at Tennessee State Bank.
