Dennison, George Edward (Papaw) – age 80 of Knoxville went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. George was a member of Sevier Avenue Baptist Church where he served as pastor for over 35 years. Retired from Yellow Freight Systems of Knoxville and a member of Teamster Local 519. George was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Emily Dennison; son, Eddie Dennison; granddaughter, Kimberly Harbin; daughter-in-law, Sandy Dennison; son-in-law, Dennis Harbin; sisters, Mildred McCoy, Edith Ivey, Mary Ivey, Pauline Rennison, and Lillie Dennison; and brother, John Dennison. Papaw is survived by his wife of 61 years, Velma; daughters, Diane Dennison, Wilma Harbin, Sarah Spencer and husband John; sons, Robert Dennison and wife Debbie, George (PG) Dennison; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Dennison; brother, Charles Dennison; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, L.C. and Viola Cardwell; sister-in-law, Delores Bales; special friends, Herman and Hazel Vincent; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Arms and Rev. Michael Dennison officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM Friday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to Asbury Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment. Pallbearers: grandsons, Michael, Kevin, Bradley and Brian Dennison, Phillip Harbin, Christopher and Aaron Spencer, and great grandson, Erik Knuckles. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999.
